RAPP

The Reining Alberta Performance Program (RAPP) is a locally driven breeding initiative designed to build upon and enhance the former Reining Alberta Sire Incentive Program. Its purpose is to boost participation, grow program sustainability, and significantly increase available purses for competitors.

RAPP expands eligibility by allowing any foal to be nominated according to the fee schedule below. Foals sired by enrolled stallions qualify for nomination at substantially reduced rates, supporting both stallion owners and breeders who choose to use outside stallions. The program continues to champion Alberta stallions while creating broader opportunities for breeders across the region.

RAPP introduces key improvements aimed at revitalizing engagement and strengthening financial sustainability. With these enhancements, Reining Alberta anticipates purse totals increasing from approximately $10,000 to more than $40,000, directly benefiting local Reiners and helping grow the sport within our community.

Benefits of Enrollment 

1. Economical Participation for BOTH Stallions and Offspring:   Stallion enrollment fee is only $550 – all offspring of enrolled Stallions are eligible to enroll in the Performance Program at significantly reduced rates. 
2. Promotional Opportunities for STALLIONS: Help promote your Stallion with enrollment into this prestigious program, your Stallion will be featured on social media platforms throughout the year, included in the NEW RAPP promotional video we have planned, and in the Stallion Showcase at all 3 Classic Shows. 
3. Recognition of STALLIONS: There is a $500 Sire Award to the highest placing Sire Incentive Offspring Stallion owner for the Open/NP Futurity & Open/NP 4yr Derby. 
4. Enhanced Payouts for OFFSPRING: Entry fees will be 5% of the added (far less than a normal class) and 95% of the entry will fee is added directly to the purse! 
5. Nominated OFFSPRING: are eligible to enter:

• • As a 3-year-old: Fall Classic Open & Non-Pro RAPP 3 yr. old Futurity
  • As a 4-year-old: Spring Classic Open & Non-Pro RAPP 4 yr. old Derby (Open & Non-Pro)
  • As a 5/6/7-year-old: Spring Classic Open & Non-Pro RAPP 5/6/7 yr. old Derby

How do I nominate my foal?

To nominate a foal, you must be a current Reining Alberta member. Nomination forms are available online (below) and must be submitted by December 31 of the current year.
